Ms. Powell wrote the first draft of  In Our Hands Now!  fourteen years ago when her daughter Gisela was in high school drama. She has spent the intervening years rewriting the script, writing the lyrics, and locating the perfect composer with whom to collaborate.

Ms. Powell has also had seven books published, three on tough subjects for children. Daisy was chosen by the National Council on Social Studies and The Children's Book Council for their outstanding book list. E. Sandy Powell's titles can be found in your local library and online through www.amazon.com.

After single parenting three children, Ms. Powell earned her Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction at the same time as her son was earning his graduate degree.
For the last eleven years, besides writing, Ms. Powell has taught GED, English as a Second Language and Gender Studies, first at Clark College, WA, and most recently at Southwestern Oregon Community College. She keeps in touch with teens by substitute teaching at Gold Beach High School where she's known as "Sparky."

Upon completion of the
In Our Hands Now!  premiere, Sandy has been promoting the musical to schools and theaters across the country, with interest from as far afield as New Brunswick and Australia. This year she completed the screenplay and has begun to chart its path to Hollywood. Ms. Powell agents herself, with manuscripts out to publishers, in both the children’s and adult markets. These days Sandy spends her days writing, essentially full-time.
