Sev'ral times through the week we are treated
to a series of speed metal jams.
Any chance for some peace is defeated
by a drummer destroying his cans
while somebody is wailing on guitar,
driving bass or a full set of keys.
Only two at a time playing so far,
just as loud and as fast as they please.

Yesterday seemed he'd gotten a whole band
'til I heard it's a different house,
warming up for the night's party bandstand
with an almost identical sound.
They start out with some fast heavy metal,
then our neighbor, the drummer, kicks in.
And my house starts to vibrate and rattle
as the loud competition begins.

    The BATTLE OF THE BANDS is raging.
    They're furiously pounding it out.
    With MegaDearth off to the north side,
    Nutallica off to the south.
    The BATTLE OF THE BANDS is raging
    full volume each end of the block.
    I don't want to sound like I'm aging,
    but when are they going to stop?

Here we are sitting right in the middle
as both bands are just banging away,
with a migraine that's starting to frizzle
when the party band goes on a break.
But our neighbor, the drummer, keeps flailing:
his guitarist friend's up in high gear.
They don't care it's my head that is ailing,
so we take our car far, far from here.

    CHORUS

        A dark Italian rest'rant
        with a gentle violin serenade
        helps ease this constant throbbing
        that was quickly destroying my brain.

Sev'ral friends and a fun movie later,
we have ventured back into our home.
Once again, we're reluctant spectators
to a contest that's still going on.
Though our neighbor would usu'ly have ended
all his practicing hours ago,
as this block's King of Loud, he's offended.
Such an insult he'd never let go.

    CHORUS

        One o'clock, two o'clock,
        three o'clock, four ...
        I've called police like three times.
        Did anyone else call more?
        One o'clock, two o'clock ...
        When will they stop?
        That's when I found out the hard way
        our neighbors are lawyers and cops.
