He's staring us in the face,
yet we won't look him in the eye.
He's breathing down our necks if we turn around.
He's taking up all this space
with no room to be getting by.
Yet, still we pretend like he's nowhere here to be found.

    that nobody wants to talk about.
    He sits there eating peanuts,
    trying hard not to get in the way.

    that nobody wants to think about.
    His tutu looks outrageous.
    We ignore him just the same.

He's already filed his nails.
Now he's starting to pick his teeth.
He's straightened his toupee more than thirteen times.
The thumping noise of his tail
says he's frustrated and displeased.
That real nasty smell: is it his or could it be mine?

        Isn't it obvious we've got a situation here?
        Are we oblivious to the need to make the air more clear?

His trunk has slid across the floor
and it's curling around your leg.
& still you pretend like there's nothing happening there.
Does he have to do something more?
Should he get on his knees and beg?
