Silent Tree Music - Song Lyrics

There's the bed just the way we left it:
with the covers piled on the floor,
and the sheets something more than rumpled,
when we bolted right out the door.
I've been late for my work so often
that the boss has been threatening me.
But it's so good with you each morning
that we really don't want to leave.
EXCUSES, EXCUSES. They'll get the best of me.
EXCUSES, EXCUSES. The tangled webs I weave.
My mind is racing faster as it searches to create
all these silly dumb EXCUSES for why I'm always late.
Dodging traffic as I am weaving,
as I'm making up for lost time.
Who the hell could I be deceiving?
Who the hell would buy all these lines?
Well, my brand new car broke down again:
the "gadgulator" broke this time.
I was up all night with a sickly friend.
And my grandma keeps on dying.
And the freeway was a parking lot.
There was a fire in my yard.
And my boss just stands and he shakes his head
as if I'm a total retard.
We forgot to reset the alarm last night
for the fourth night in a row.
And on top of that I am really sick.
Thank your stars that I even showed.
It's a real solid dedication
that would have me keep coming back.
Oh, so much could be said for loyalty
and the need for that weekly check.
